YOU TUBE ROCKS!
Yes, we've already used it in our classroom. You definitely have to preview what you use, but there is such a VAST amount of resources available there. They have everything from musical performances to instructional videos to presentation resources, and in a format that kids love to watch. I use it often for myself as well, especially when searching for new composers, artists, and songs. This is an excellent medium for musicians and the applications are plenty.
I lost time and ended up surfing there for a loooooong while today. I checked out a bunch of videos for my class, but ended up leaving my comment on a post from Justin Unger - a new Christian artist. Some of his uploads showed what it was like to be in the recording studio, and I think that even that would make for something amazing for my students to see.
You're very fortunate in a couple of ways. First of all, that your district allows the use of YouTube, because many block it totally. The other reason is that YouTube has so many great videos to enhance the teaching of music.
ReplyDeleteYou are very lucky to be able to use YouTube in your classroom! I can access it, but I can't ever get the videos to play. The white circle just keeps spinning!! Did you check out teachertube? I liked that one and was actually able to play videos at school! Keep you the creative teaching in your classroom!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you sharing that you already use YouTube in your classroom. As Carol mentioned, you're lucky your district doesn't block access. The district I worked for before working at RESA made a decision to block YouTube until 3 PM. After three, administration felt teachers would not be teaching, but planning future lessons.
